THE TURNER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY SCHOLARSHIP

The Turner Construction Company New York business unit will select five grduating high school seniors from New Yokr City high schools to be recipients of the scholarship inthe amount of $2,000 each year, a total of $8,000 after completing four years of college. As a scholarship reipient, students must maintain a 2.8 grade point average, remain in the same course of study and complete a four-year summer internship at Turner that begins immediately follwing their frehman year of college.


TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP STUDENTS WILL NEED TO MEET THE FOLLOWING:

-Be a New York City resident
-Be involved in school and community activities
-A (80% or B) cumularive Grade Point Average
-Combined SAT scores - scores 1600 or better (includes all three scores)
-A 350-500 word essay, "Why I want to pursue a career in the Building Industry"
-Accepted to an accredited University/College (4 year) majoring in Electrical,
Mechanical, Civil, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management or
Architecture
-Supply documents that establish both identity and employment eligibility with
scholarship application
-Submit application by APRIL 30, 2012 deadline

This fair is open to middle school and high school students seeking to pursue a degree from a junior or senior college, including Masters' programs and trade schools.

60-plus national colleges and universities represented. Free workshops in Admissions Prep, SAT, financial aid, careers in medicine, opportunities in the music industry, and more.

NEW YORK STATE SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS

The New York Chapter (O.E., Manhattan) of the New York State Society of Professional Engineers (NYSSPE)annually awards a monetary "Scholar Award" to a high school senior who either is a resident of Manhattan or goes to school in Manhattan, and who also intends to study engineering in college.

Selection is based on:
-academic performance,
-extracurricular activities,
-recommendation by the guidance counselor, and
-an essay written by the student on the contribution he/she hopes to
make in society as an engineer

Students who are seeking to study engineering in college should see Dr.Powell in the college office room 239 regarding applying for this scholarship. Each selected winner and his/her parents/guardians will be invited as the guests of the New York State Society of Professional Engineer to their June dinner during which the scholarship will be presented.

College Summit will host their second annual THINK FAFSA completion drive for New York City high school seniiors and their families at Legacy High School Manhattan. Trained corporate volunteers will work one-on-one with families to walk them through the onlinee application process for FAFSA and TAP

GE-REAGAN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM


Honoring the legacy and character of our nation's 40th President, the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program rewards college bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistane to pursue higher education.

Like President Reagan, candidates use the formative experiences of their youth to lead, serve, and pursue a life of purpose and significance, both individually and for their communities. Each year, roughly 20 Scholars will receive a $10,000 scholarship renewable for an additional three years up to $40,000 total per recipient.

Applications for the 2012 GE-Reagan Fondation Scholarship Program will b accepted online between November 14, 2011 and February 17, 2012.

Davidson Fellows Scholarship (DEADLINE FEBRUARY 1,2012)

The Davidson Scholarship awards $50,000, $25,000 and $10,000. To be eligible for the Davidson Fellows Scholarship, an applicant must:
1. Be 18 or younger as of October 4
2. Be aU.S citizen residing in the United States, or Permanent Resident of the
United States residing in the United States, or be stationed overseas due to
U.S. military duty

BIG DIG Scholarship Scholarship (DEADLINE: JUNE 1, 2012)

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

1. You must be currently in Grade 12 and entering into your first year of
college/university in 2012 or be currently in your first or second year.

2. Submit an essay that is UNDER 1,000 words by the stated deadline.

AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP ( In association with U.S. News & World Report)

Who is eligible to apply?

You must be a United States citizen or legal resident living or claiming
residency in one of the 50 U.S. states, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico

You must be a current high School senior who plans to enroll full-time in an
accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States for
the entire 2012-2013 academic year.

You should be able to demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by
outstanding achievement in school,community or work-related activities.

What will be awarded?

FIFTY-TWO (52) students,known as AXA Achievers,will each receive a $10,000
scholarship. One recipient will be selected from each U.S. state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico

From among the 52 recipients, ten (10) will be seleted to receive an additional $15,000 scholarship. The National AXA Achievers will eah be awarded scholarships totaling $25,000.

AXA Achievement Scholarships must be used for education-related expenses forundergraduate study only. Awards are not renewable; however, recipients may arrange to receive payment in installments over multiple years as long as the student continues to enroll in undergraduate study.

Eligible students are encouraged to apply for all AXA sponsored scholarships, but a student may receive only one AXA-sponsored scholarship. For more information about all AXA Achievement scholarships, vist the following website:

WHITNEY M. YOUNG, JR. SCHOLARSHIP (DEADLINE: APRIL 2, 2012)

Eligibility Requirements:

A candidate must be:

1- A resident of New York City and of African-American, Latino, Asian or Native American background.

2- A current high school graduate or recipient of a GED.

3- Accepted as a full time and first-term matriculating freshman at an accredited college or university in pursuit of a Baccalaureate or Associate degree at the time the award is presented.

4- A person who demonstrates strong potential for academic achievement.

5- of excellent character and proven leadership ability,with demonstrated commitment to community service and extra-curricular activities.

Scholarship Awards:

Whitney M. Young, Jr. Scholarship $3,500 ($1,750 per semester)

SCHOLARSHIPS!!

Reciprocity Scholarship

This scholarship si given by Kasandra Pantoja a Murry Bergtraum High School Graduate, Class of 1988.

Reciprocity - a recciprocal state or relation; reciprocation; mutual exchange.

Reciprocation - a returning ususally for something given; amutual giving and receiving.

This year the award is one (1) scholarship in the amount of up to $500.

Applications for this scholarship can be picked up from the college office, and the deadline for all applications is FEBRUARY 15, 2012.

ALUMNI AWARD SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded each year by the Alumni of Murry Bergtraum High School. Applicants for this award must show how they have been involved in the community (that includes Bergtraum), how they progressed throughout their years at Bergtraum, and finally their need for the award.

Applications can be picked up from the College Office, and the deadline date for filing your applications is FEBRUARY 17, 2012

UNITED FEDERATION OF TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIP

If you are a graduating senior currently attending a New York City public school then you might be eligible for a $5,000 award from the Albert Shanker College Scholarship Fund.

Applications for this scholarships are available at the UFT Web site at

The deadline to apply for this scholarship is January 21, 2012.
